Arizona Early Childhood Fiscal Map

Developed by Read On Arizona – in partnership with the Arizona Departments of Economic Security, Education, and Health Services, as well as the Arizona Head Start Association and First Things First – the Arizona Early Childhood Fiscal Map provides a comprehensive view of how public funds (federal and state) support Arizona’s young children and families.

Shifting the focus from agency-based budgets to a child-centered perspective, the fiscal map highlights how resources collectively support school readiness and early literacy outcomes and answers key questions about who (level of government) invests how much (appropriated/obligated amount of money) in what (specific age groups, types of services, programs).

The fiscal map is intended to strengthen the capacity of state and local leaders to evaluate, coordinate, and improve sustainable funding strategies to support the programs, workforce, and infrastructure needed to deliver high-quality services and improve outcomes for children and families across Arizona.
